Bio
Adryn began her piano study at age 4 and performed her first concerto with the Seattle and Southeast Symphonies at age 11. She began teaching her own students at 13 and continued her piano study at the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts. At university, Adryn was named the Best Pianist of the Year.
Following graduation, Adryn moved to Los Angeles and performed as a solo artist as well as with chamber music groups throughout the city, including for the board of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and as the first featured artist of the Santa Monica Living Room Concert Series. She has also performed in storied venues around the world, from The Peninsula Hong Kong, to castles in Scotland and concert halls in Russia. Adryn's music has also been used in movie and television soundtracks. Adryn believes in the healing power of music for body and soul and subsequently founded the piano division of the Music for Healing program at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. She secured the donation of a beautiful new Yamaha grand piano and was the featured performer at the inaugural gala. What began as a program with just a few musicians, now features hundreds of pianists of every genre, volunteering and sharing their gifts with the patients, staff and visitors.
After performing for audiences across the country and around the world, Adryn felt something was missing in the connection between listeners and the music, so she developed a program to bridge the gap and now travels the country engaging audiences and revitalizing interest in classical music with her popular new concert series, Lit Classical. Her interactive components significantly enrich the listening experience by bringing the vibrant art of classical music and those who created it, to life. She shares the “human experience” behind classical music by providing insight into the background of the composers - who they were as individuals, what motivated and inspired them, what were their challenges and passions and even their naughty foibles. All of these human components are expressed through their music in the greatest compositions of all time but few know to listen for them.
Lit Classical is flexible in duration to accommodate different venues and audiences and includes pieces across the classical music spectrum. Adryn introduces us to the human side of the musical geniuses, points to the stylistic periods and components and the composer’s message in each piece before she performs it for the audience. She provides a deeper understanding of context and enjoyment of the music for the classical music aficionado as well as for those “classical-curious” newbies with this fun new approach to classical music that she calls, Lit Classical. She guarantees, “you’ll never experience classical music the same way again.”
